AI Powered Search

As the lead designer, I was responsible for concept and UX strategy for an intelligent e-commerce search engine. This new product prioritizes the B2B Commerce user needs such as searching via SKU number (or item number), and quick reordering features.

The B2B Storefront displays prices based on the buyer account’s negotiated contract prices, helping eliminate the high-touch process that exists in B2B ordering.

 

Experience Mapping

Through extensive research and interview sessions with current Commerce customers, I identified pain points and mapped out the UX vision for Commerce Search divided into three different areas: Setup, Management, and Experience. These three areas were then associated with personas that correspond to real customers and their workflows.

 

Persona Based Workflows

Each persona’s workflow and needs are drastically different, but the problem each one faced when it came to commerce search proved to be the same: Relevancy of search results. Admins and Managers (merchandiser) want to have granular control over the search experience and which products are promoted and displayed to the Buyer (end user). A Buyer spends all day going through spreadsheets of products they must research, find the best deals, purchase, and track. The Buyer needs relevant results in order to be more efficient. Finally, the Builder/Designer needs an intuitive and flexible experience platform that allows for UI customization that can return relevant results to the end user.

A new app “Commerce” using the power of the CRM, offers admins and e-commerce managers the ability to customize their online store from product catalogs, to search results, and search index management.

Looking Forward – Actionable Insights

Using search data to inform product and merchandising decisions in the storefront, powered by Salesforce’s Einstein Artificial Intelligence (coming soon).
